Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called-out to assist a Macclesfield ambulance crew (North West Ambulance Services NHS Trust) to help evacuate an 87 year old woman from a remote farm house.  The narrow and rough farm track was too much for the county ambulance and with no air-ambulance available, the help of mountain rescue was called upon.  The team responded with its own Land Rover ambulance backed up with fifteen team members.  Calling the extra man-power proved a good idea as the journey back up the track was deemed too rough to transport an elderly lady who had suffered a suspected stroke.  She was instead carried by mountain rescue stretcher from the farmhouse to the tarmac road where she was transferred to the ambulance for the onward journey to Macclesfield Hospital.
