Incident report

A Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to assist the ambulance service in the evacuation of a 54 year old male who had been walking with his wife. They were returning to the village from the Cow Low area when he slipped on the steep hillside and sustained an injury to his left lower leg which immobilised him. He was treated on site by the ambulance service paramedics, and evacuated by stretcher for more than 500 metres through the village to the waiting air ambulance, which had repositioned itself in the fields below. The casualty was transferred to the helicopter and flown to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.
