Incident report

A Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue snatch squad was called to the Chatsworth estate during the afternoon to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

A 42 year old male from West Bridgeford, Nottinghamshire, was mountain biking in the New Piece Wood area, south west of Edensor Village, when an accident occurred. He was reported to have been thrown over the bike handlebars, suffering injuries to his head, neck and chest. He was unconscious.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance landed nearby and Mountain Rescue personnel were on hand to assist. The injured man was flown to the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, for further treatment.
