Incident report

On Saturday a joint Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to the Monsal Trail to assist the ambulance service.  The incident was near to Headstone Tunnel and the teams accessed the trail from Hassop Station.

A 53 year old lady from the West Midlands area was bike riding on the trail between Great Longstone and Monsal Head when she came off her bike and sustained abrasions and a suspected fracture  to her ankle.  She was treated on site by a community first responder and mountain rescue personnel, including pain relief, leg splinter. She was then evacuated a short distance by stretcher, along the trail to the waiting ambulance at Thornbridge Hall road bridge, and taken to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.
