Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by Derbyshire Police at 10.00 p.m. on Bank Holiday Monday night following a report of two walkers lost in the dark.
The lost pair had left Tideswell around 2.00 p.m. for a circular walk on the local paths.  They were using a map on a mobile phone for navigation but when the battery failed they lost their way.  After further conversations it was predicted that the couple, from Birmingham, were actually on the Monsal Trail having become disorientated after night fall.  Just three team members were dispatched to search the entire length of the cycle route by vehicle.  After only a short time the couple were located and given transport back to their car in Tideswell.
Map, compass, whistle and torch every time!
