Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to rendezvous at White Lodge car park, later changed to Monsal Head, following the report of a man having collapsed on the riverside path.  A team member was walking in the dale at the time and was able to render assistance before the call-out system was activated.  Paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service were soon on scene followed by sixteen team members.

Following treatment, the man was carried a short distance to a where the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air-ambulance had landed waiting to transfer the casualty to a Sheffield hospital.

I will be forever grateful for the help you gave my family and I yesterday. I was discharged today following a series of heart scans and tests, although some work still needs to be done to identify the root cause.

My wife feels a special debt to the team member who was off-duty at the time and initiated the response.

I particularly appreciate the support you gave my teenage children, who must have found the experience particularly frightening.

As soon as I am back on my feet we will arrange an event to raise some funds.

Thanks very much, Iain, for getting in touch and letting us know how things are.

We hope you get to the bottom of whatever triggered the condition.

If you are able to spread goodwill about the team, then that would be grand (any fund-raising an extra bonus).

    All the best.
