Incident report

The Buxton and Edale Snatch Squad responded urgently to a 999 call reporting a 12 year old boy having fallen from the top of Mam Tor.

The boy, from Doncaster, had been walking with his father on the summit when he fell an estimated 15 metres down the east face near to Y Gully.   The youth sustained head injuries in the fall and was believed to have been unconscious for a period after the accident.  After treatment by mountain rescue doctors he was carried to the waiting Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air-ambulance for transfer to a Sheffield children’s hospital.
