Incident report

A Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service on a snowy Saturday afternoon.

The casualty, a 29 year old man from Northenden, Manchester, was sledging down the steep northern side of lower Mam Tor when he sustained injuries to his upper back.  He was treated on site by a team paramedic, and then placed into a vacuum mattress, which provided some support, and protection from the weather.  He was then loaded onto a mountain rescue stretcher and evacuated by foot via Mam Nick to the car park and the waiting land ambulance.

The casualty was transferred to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for further treatment.
