Incident report

A joint team call-out for the Buxton and Edale Snatch Squad following reports of an injured paraglider on Mam Tor, near Castleton. Mam Tor 2 April 2015

A 49 year old man suffered suspected neck and facial injuries whilst landing near to the summit of the popular location. Local team members were rapidly on scene and provided medical care greatly assisted by a member of the R.A.F. and an N.W.A.S. technician who were nearby at the time.  Due to the nature of the injuries and the location, a Search and Rescue helicopter was requested, with the new S92 stationed at Humberside attending.  The casualty was flown, together with a team paramedic, to a Major Trauma Centre in Sheffield.
