Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to an incident in Lathkill Dale, near to Alport on Saturday afternoon to assist the ambulance service.

The casualty, a 53 year old lady from Leicester, was walking with her husband when she slipped on wet muddy limestone by the River Lathkill. She was located at the bottom of very steep ground falling away into the river. A nasty bang to her side had resulted in a muscular injury to her hip.

Following treatment, she was loaded on to a mountain rescue stretcher and carried up the steep bank for nearly 300 metres to the ambulance at nearby Alport.
She was then transferred in the land ambulance to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.

I would like to express a sincere “Thank you” to the members of the team who gave up their time to assist in my swift transfer from the hillside to the ambulance in Alport.
Fortunately no serious damage was done although it will take a little while for the muscle to repair. Hoping to be back to finish the walk soon!! Just for the record, I am 52!!
Once again..many thanks, your help and professionalism was much appreciated.
    Kind regards
