Incident report

Buxton team was called out and two other Peak District teams put on stand-by following a telephone call from a young couple lost in the thick low cloud and heavy rain in the middle of Kinder Scout.

The couple, from Bristol, had lost their way after the batteries in their GPS failed.  The poor weather and the prospect of darkness prompted an immediate reaction and members of Buxton team were called to rendezvous at Edale.   However the couple were able to attract the attention of other walkers on the moor who led them to safety down Grindsbrook.   The search was called off and the team stood down after team members met the couple in Edale.
