Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called after two students from Manchester became lost in the mist n the south side of Kinder Scout.  Unusually they “Googled “for mountain rescue and found a number for Edale MRT base.  Fortunately the base was staffed and, after taking details, the incident was correctly rerouted via the police and the duty P.D.M.R.O. Incident Controller.

Following the use of Sarloc, a technical gadget which locates cell-phone positions, the lost pair were identified to be in the Woolpacks area of Kinder and Buxton MRT tasked to guide them off the hill.  Whilst Edale base maintained phone contact with the two walkers, Buxton members climbed Crowden Brook to locate them and lead them down via Jacobs Ladder.  They were taken by Land Rover back to Edale and following a warm-up period they made their own way home.

REMINDER:  To call mountain rescue, dial 999 and ask the police for Mountain Rescue.
