Incident report

The joint team Kinder Scout Search Plan was put on standby following information being received from Greater Manchester police relating to a 75 year old walker being overdue from a walk on the moor.

There had been heavy rain in the area for the previous 24 hours so it was known that the rivers would be in flood and the peat-bog unusually treacherous.  The search plan involves Glossop, Kinder, Edale and Buxton M.R.Ts. and each alerted its members to the possibility of an imminent call-out.  Buxton team had twenty-two members immediately available and the team bases were made ready.   In the event it wasn’t long before police inquiries confirmed the man to be safe at home.  All resources were stood down.
