Incident report

A bright start to the day had deteriorated in the afternoon with snow and a Edale April 2016 2severe wind chill so, when two walkers reported themselves lost on Kinder, the full Kinder search plan was initiated.

Just before darkness Kinder, Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams were called out.  Glossop team, which normally covers the northern edges, was already committed to a search in the Longdendale area so Edale team moved across to the A57 Snake road and Buxton was to spread itself east if required.

Phone communication with the lost pair was difficult but eventually their position was locked by their signal.  Surprisingly the two were not on Kinder but around the Alport Dale area of Bleaklow.  A party from Edale team drove up the valley and then climbed to their position.  The pair were cold and wet but otherwise uninjured and were soon led back down to the A57.
