Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 3.10 p.m. on Friday 11th August by Derbyshire Police to assist in the search for a vulnerable male from the Sheffield area.  Edale M.R.T. and three search & rescue dogs were also deployed around the Hope Valley area in the hunt for the man who police thought may harm himself.
This incident was a rapidly evolving one and a joint services command post was set up at Edale M.R.T’s base in Hope.  This permitted fast sharing of vital information between the police and mountain rescue search managers.
Despite the weather deteriorating the search continued on into darkness but, when all high risk areas had been searched and nothing found, the teams stood down at 11pm.

Derbyshire Police “News & Appeals” Web-site later reported, “We are concerned for the safety of Alex Mills, a missing South Yorkshire man who could be in Castleton.  Mr Mills is 29 years old, slim, 6ft 2 ins tall and is bald.

Derbyshire Police enquiries are ongoing.   Anyone with helpful information should ring 101.
