Incident report

Buxton and Edale Joint Snatch Squad called to Edale for the second successive day.   Grindlow knoll JJune 2015 2

A man from Sheffield had been taking part in a fell race when he unfortunately lost his footing on a rocky section of path at the top of Grindslow Knoll. Fortunately he suffered the fall near to a Marshals check-point and they were quickly able to raise the alarm for assistance. Members of Edale team were fundraising at Edale Country Day and were able to quickly respond on to the hill.  Once on scene, team members provided shelter from the weather and administered analgesia to ease the pain.

Buxton team was close behind and prepared for the stretcher carry back down to Edale.  The evacuation started by ‘sledging’ the stretcher down the steep slopes at the top of the Knoll and then carrying off more conventionally on the rocky path.  Once back at Grindsbrook Booth the casualty was transferred to a waiting ambulance for onwards transport to hospital.
