Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team received its first call of 2015 when a 34 year old lady from Whaley Bridge slipped in Goyt Woods resulting in aWindgather Goyt Woods Jan 2015 suspected fractured ankle.

Twenty two members responded on a bright sunny Sunday afternoon when called to rendezvous at Windgather Rocks near Kettleshulme.  The casualty site was quickly located and team first aiders treated the lady who had been walking with her husband.  Following the administration of pain relief and splinting of the injury the casualty was carried by rescue stretcher to Black Hill Gate Farm.  Following a short wait for an ambulance she was transferred to a Macclesfield hospital for further examination.

To the wonderful Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.

I can’t thank you enough for coming to my aid yesterday. It was an unexpected accident on a beautiful day for walking. We live in Whaley Bridge with our 2 dogs and walk in the hills often.

You are an amazing team, so professional and dedicated in what you do. You all clearly enjoy it enormously, which made me feel a lot better about taking up your Sunday afternoon. Also huge thanks to the farmer for allowing access to his land, the fantastic ambulance crew and the lovely staff at Macclesfield Hospital who quickly confirmed that my ankle was broken in 2 places (luckily the smaller bone so not as serious as it could have been). So I now have a plaster cast and I definitely won’t be troubling you again in the near future.

We will be making a contribution to your funds, without you I have no idea what we would have done in the location we were in & it was getting very cold towards the end.

What a team, thank you isn’t enough.

    Dawn x

Thank you to everyone who rescued my lovely Sister yesterday.

There truly is no greater heart than that of a volunteer.

I will be supporting mountain rescue and other emergency teams more in the future.
