Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue team was called to the Goyt Valley at tea time on Armistice Day to assist the ambulance service with a woman who had sustained an injury whist walking alongside Fernilee Reservoir.

Mountain rescue personnel, together with equipment, were deployed from the Bunsal Cob area onto the track on the eastern side of the reservoir. The casualty, an 18 year old female from the Buxton area, was found to be suffering a severe injury to her right lower leg and was located with her father who had arrived and was sheltering her in his car. She was very cold, and mildly hypothermic.

After being treated on site by a team doctor, the seats in the car were adjusted to enable her to be driven along the track to a waiting ambulance, where she was transferred and then taken to hospital.
