Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to support Derbyshire police searching for a vulnerable female around the Goyt Valley near Buxton.
The middle aged lady from the Staffordshire area was believed to have been somewhere on the moorland around Errwood Hall since before darkness.  Police had become concerned for her welfare after relatives reported her missing and following a deterioration of the weather with heavy rain and a cold wind.
Local police had already started to search well known landmarks and it was just as the team was arriving at the search rendezvous point that an officer located the lady in a remote area.  Team members were quickly dispatched to the location with suitable equipment to protect the casualty from further risk of hypothermia.  Following a medical examination team members assisted the lady from the hillside and later handed her to the care of the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
