Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by Derbyshire Police to assist in a search for a vulnerable female from Whaley Bridge.

The weather was clear and cold causing concern for the lady’s well-being.  Thirty-six team members assisted by three search & rescue dogs commenced a detailed search around the Goyts Lane area.  In the early hours of New Year’s Eve a Coastguard Search Helicopter was also called in from Hull to use specialist night / heat seeking equipment.

By dawn no trace of the missing person had been found and, as Buxton members returned home, members of Derby M.R.T. arrived to continue the search.   The search continued to mid-morning when the lady was finally located in a hotel in Buxton.
