Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 12.00 on Saturday 10th September following a report of a schoolgirl having a panic attack in Deep Dale.
The young girl, from a school in Nottingham, was participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme at the time of the attack.  They group had descended into Deep Dale from near King Sterndale, Buxton and then started to climb out on the steep Mid-shires Way path adjacent to Hobs Hurst cave.  The anxiety attack was brought on by the steepness of the dale and the slippery limestone path and caused her to suffer breathing difficulties.
Following medical treatment and lots of reassurance from team members the casualty was assisted to walk out of the dale and meet up with the school party again.
