Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to support Edale Team following a report of an injured man on Curbar Edge.
A 37 year old male from Milton Keynes had fallen whilst bouldering (climbing large isolated rocks without aid) and sustained an open fracture of the ankle.  The casualty was on his own and had to shout to passers by to get assistance.?  Owing to the isolation of the incident site an air ambulance was also called alongside mountain rescue and a local paramedic.
The casualty was treated on scene by the air-medics and carried to the helicopter a short distance away.  Fortunately he was at the top of the crag and not at the bottom, which would have been a more protracted affair.
He was later flown to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
