Incident report

Credible reports of screams being heard at the top of the Crowden Brook Gully prompted a four hour search for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.

The alarm was raised about 4.00 pm when two screams were heard and were thought to be from someone falling in or around the steep sided gully.  Nearly thirty members responded searching the gully and Crowden Towers area in thick low cloud and deteriorating weather.  When nothing was found the search area was widened to take in nearly a kilometre of Kinder Southern Edge but still no trace of any incident was found.

As darkness fell and in the absence of any further information or report of a missing person, the search was abandoned.
