Incident report

Eighteen members of the Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams’ Joint Snatch Squad were called to Chee Dale near to Chee TorMillers Dale July 2014 stepping stones following reports of an injured rock climber.  The 31 year old man from Sheffield had been reaching upwards when his shoulder dislocated.  His climbing partner was able to lower him to the river side path but the pain prevented him from walking any distance.

East Midlands Ambulance Service was first on scene with a paramedic able to render pain relief to the casualty.  The rescue snatch squad accessed the site from Millers Dale driving along the disused railway and through Chee Tor tunnel.  The casualty was placed on a rescue stretcher and carried along the river back to the tunnel mouth.  There an ambulance was waiting to transfer the casualty to a Sheffield hospital.
