Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to the Rushop Edge area to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) with an incident on the Chapel Gate track.

A 38 year old male from Manchester was descending the track on his mountain bike towards Edale when the accident occurred. He apparently flew over the handlebars and hit the hard surface suffering facial, shoulder and knee injuries. He was treated on site by an EMAS/Mountain Rescue doctor. His injuries were not thought to be seriously disabling and he was able to walk down with assistance.

Although the team was stood down on arrival, members were able to provide support in securing the mountain bikes, and providing the cyclists with shelter whilst physical checks were made.

The casualty was taken by ambulance to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport for further treatment and later discharged.
