Incident report

Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams’ Joint Snatch Squad was called out following a report from East Midlands Ambulance Service of casualty in Cave Dale, Castleton.   A mature lady from Huddersfield was on a day trip to the Peak celebrating her birthday when a simple slip resulted in a suspected fracture of the ankle.   The limestone Cave Dale track is notoriously slippery when wet and following heavy overnight rain the path had become a stream-bed.

Onsite treatment was completed by the ambulance service crew at which point the rescue team placed the lady on a stretcher and carried her back down the track to Castleton.  After further examination the casualty was transported to a Stockport hospital.
