Incident report

This call was received whilst team members were responding to incident 86.  Whilst some members continued to the original call at Grindleford, others were diverted to Calver New Bridge where Edale M.R.T. was dealing with a fallen walker on the footpath aside the River Derwent.

An Edale team doctor was rapidly on scene to assess and treat the young lady from Nottingham who had fallen injuring her knee.  Following splinting and analgesia, the lady was carried by mountain rescue stretcher to a waiting East Midlands Ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

The walker rescued was my wife Jenny. We were so grateful for your highly professional response, along with the Edale team members. We are donating to the funds of both teams. Jenny is now in the QMC in Nottingham (near home) where they have wired her fractured knee cap back together. No hiking for a while! Many many thanks
    Tony
