Incident report

A callout for Derby Mountain Rescue Team which was fundraising in Dovedale at the time and thus had some distance to travel.  To back-up Derby team the incident was also attended by a Buxton member who lives close to the incident site and a number of Edale members who were fundraising in Bakewell.

A 22 year old man had fallen 25-30m and suffered spinal, chest and pelvic injuries as well as breaking both legs.  Helimed 54, an EMAS ambulance crew and a BASICS doctor also attended.  The casualty also had the good fortune to be found by an A&E doctor on her way to go climbing!   The rescue teams used a rope system to recover him to a narrow footpath before he was winched into a Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter and flown to a Major Trauma Centre in Nottingham.
